AMBC MEGA Workday

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

The last AMBC trail workday of 2011 is coming up on December 17th and we want to make it our biggest one yet! We’re hoping to see at least 100 people turn out to help finish the new trails we’ve been building in South Knoxville.

Since this is a MEGAworkday, we’ll have two different shifts, so you’ll have the option to work from 9-noon or 1-4pm. Lunch will be provided at noon. All shifts meet at the Mead’s Quarry parking lot - rain or shine!

AMBC will provide some tools, but if you have your own (rogue hoes, fire rakes, mattocks, loppers, chainsaws), please bring them so that we can be sure everyone has something to work with.

EVERYONE’S WELCOME! Bring your friends and family and show them what great outdoor resources are right in their back yard.

If you plan to attend, just leave a comment below to help us get a head count. See you on the 17th!

Fall Work Day Schedule

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Fall is almost here and along with the great riding weather comes our chance to get our hands dirty and expand our trail system in South Knoxville. We have ambitious goals this season but with our awesome volunteers, we will be knocking out miles of trail to enjoy come Spring!

Unless otherwise noted, we will meet at Meades Quarry at 9:00 am. Tools will be provided, just bring gloves and water. Look forward to seeing everyone out there!

Concord work day reminder

Friday, April 8th, 2011

Join AMBC for a trail work day at Concord Park tomorrow at 9am.

West Bicycles will be providing lunch, and Cycyology Bicycles has donated 15 $20 gift cards to the first 15 workers to show up.

Trail work updates

Monday, December 13th, 2010

First of all, thanks to ALL the great members and friends of AMBC who have helped to kick off the 2010-2011 Winter trail building season. We’ve had some pretty incredible turnout and already gotten a bunch of work done. The trails of South Knoxville just keep getting bigger and better, and we’ve got plans for even more there and beyond.

As if the promise of having several miles of fresh awesome trail to ride isn’t enough incentive to bring you out to dig in the dirt, we’re making it even better. All you have to do is log 15 trail work hours with AMBC by the end of the season (don’t forget to sign the log sheet!), and you’ll get an exclusive AMBC TRAIL BUILDER t-shirt. Check our event calendar for a list of work days. See you on the trail!

We need to get a solid head count, as camping space is limited.

GA-Ross Marble workday 5/1/10

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

This past Saturday we had a small-but-strong group turn out to finish buffing out the rock-armored sections in the first phase of the Georgia/Ross Marble singletrack trails. Thanks to some pointers during the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew classes, we’ve added reinforcement to sections of trail that would be otherwise unrideable for a few days after any rain. Come on out after it dries out and check out the new work!

Thanks to Shawn McCann for the photos.
